Who can get a kit?
Professionals qualified to get a free kit include:
- Doctors (with a hearing-related specialty)
- Primary Physician
- General Practice Physician
- Ear Nose Throat (ENT) Doctor
- Geriatric Practice
- Hearing Related Professionals
- Hearing Instrument Specialists
- Veteran Service Officers (VSO)
- Aging Transition Coordinators
- Community Care Coordinators
Why isn't there a cost for the program?
Captioned Telephone is supported and paid for by the FCC, offering access to the nation's phone system to people with hearing loss.
Is there a cost to my patients?
No. When you certify their hearing loss on a brief form, your patients receive the phone and the service at no cost.
What's included in the kit?
You can customize the kit for your needs. Options include a free demo phone for your office, collateral, including brochures, and a quick reference card, and a window cling which makes it easy to let patients know you're an authorized CapTel provider.
I don't have counter space for all the kit parts. Do I get everything?
Nope. You choose what you need for your office.
You mentioned an "installation." What do I need?
Once you sign up, a local CapTel rep will contact you to set up a time to deliver your kit. He or she will bring your customized kit, set up your phone if you selected one, and answer any questions from you and your staff. The entire appointment typically takes 30 minutes at the most.
